Image layer basics
A flat image stores the visible result as one canvas. Layer separation analyzes that canvas and proposes reusable visual parts while preserving the original composition for reference.
An image layer is one visual part of a composition placed on its own transparent canvas. It might contain the background, a person, a product, headline artwork, a badge, a shadow, or a lighting effect. When those parts are separate, you can move, hide, recolor, crop, or replace one element without rebuilding the entire image. The exported PNG files keep the original canvas dimensions, so each image layer can be aligned with the others after import.
The clearest results come from images with distinct subjects, readable edges, visible graphics, and backgrounds the model can infer. Posters, product visuals, character art, thumbnails, and generated illustrations are usually stronger candidates than dense photographs with many overlapping objects. Hair, glass, smoke, reflections, and hidden areas may still need manual cleanup. Previewing the proposed image layer set lets you judge those boundaries before using a download.
The Layer ZIP contains named transparent PNG files rather than a locked proprietary project. Import the files into Photoshop as stacked layers, place them on separate pages or frames in Figma, or upload individual assets to Canva. Designers can also archive the files for future campaigns or hand them to a client. Rasterized text remains pixels, not editable font objects, and the tool does not claim to reconstruct the original PSD, masks, vectors, or prompts.
The model creates a useful new decomposition from visible pixels; it cannot reveal the exact hidden construction of the source file. Treat every output as an editable production starting point. Keep the original image beside the separated files, inspect transparency at full size, and refine any difficult edges in your design application. This gives each image layer a clear practical role without promising a perfect reconstruction.
